God I love shoes!
I connect the stories of people though the medium of shoes.
The shoes on our feet know our secrets, our highs, our lows. Your trusty pair of trainers have walked with you, a hundred miles of adventures. Your favourite high heels were with you when you met the one. The brogues you expertly polished the night before were with you when you fluffed the interview for your dream job.
We all have stories, and i want to tell them through your soles and mine.
Our stories are shoeniversal.

Shoeniversal stories
The Everything Shoe (Original)
Size 6 heels with pom pom and acrylic drip detailing on reclaimed wood.
Originally worn by artist.
My Shoe Story:
Shoe size: 6
Original shoe price <£25
The story behind the shoes: Priceless!
So there is no one story associated with this pair of shoes. But that’s because often we have a pair of shoes that we wear all of the time, they are with us for many, many journeys – mundane, prolific and extraordinary. And every so often, that pair of shoes happens to be a pair of heels. With pom poms on.
These shoes have seen me get my first full time job. They have been with me through redundancy. They have seen 5 different homes. They have seen headaches and hangovers, the panic of running late – they have been run in, sat in, laughed in.
These shoes have been through a lot. And so I had to throw a lot at them – literally. Everything I had in my acrylic paint collection at the time was dripped onto them.
I wore them to everything, I painted them in everything - they are The Everything Shoe.

A Purple Nasty (Original)
Approx 38cm x 22cm Silver size 6 high heels and acrylic on reclaimed scaffolding board.
My Shoe Story:
Shoe size: 6
Original shoe price £5
The story behind the shoes: Priceless!
Oh where to start.
This shoe definitely had a journey.
I grabbed a bargain with this pair. There they sat in the sale section at House of Fraser. £5.
Can you believe it? £5 for a House of Fraser shoe? Yes please.
So home they came.
The thing is, they're pretty high, and even brighter than they are tall, so finding the right event to wear them to took some time. They collected dust - though not quite enough to dull the shine.
Fast forward a couple of years and eventually, I had an outfit that worked with them and a suitable night out planned. I was finally wearing them for the first time.
They were comfy, felt good and we even got a seat in a super crowded bar without booking. Woo hoo.
That's where the positives end.
Within 5 minutes of finding the table and smiling cheerfully, my (now ex) husband sitting opposite, looked at me, very serious and said:
"Yes... that is what you think it is..."
"What?"
I looked at him questioningly... then slowly followed his gaze...
A lady sitting at the table to my right...barely 2 foot away had just vomited.
And not just like a little bit in her hands
before dashing to the loo. Oh no.
She just bent her head and let the rich purple evidence of her day drinking adventure pool onto the floor. Over and over again.
I hate vomit. Like honestly. No. Thank you.
I just starred, mouthing oh no, oh no, oh no several times over.
Eventually, the ladies got up and left, (you'd think they would have at least let the bar staff know, but alas, that vomit remained on the floor all night, decorating many a party goers' shoe)
Which brings me back to my shoes. Vomit and open heels just don't mix... you can bet I checked and checked again and triple checked my shoes. I calculated the Vomit trajectory and the likelihood of it hitting my
shoes. Paranoid? Maybe. Eventually I told myself the shoes were fine and half believed it.
At this point I was already thinking it very unlikely that I would ever wear these shoes again... but just in case I had any doubts, the next events sealed the deal.
When my ex husband drinks a touch too much, his coordination, levels of awareness and general ability to stay awake begin to falter. This night was no exception.
No sooner had we changed bar, he proceeded to lose his balance. As a result, I crashed to the ground, caught my shoe round a metal support beam, banged my head, lost an earring and snapped the strap on the shoe, pulling with it the silver
coating.
The shoes, already ruined, were ruined twice and their fate to never be worn again was sealed. Good thing they were only a fiver.
(Before making this piece they were scrubbed to within an inch of their lives with antibacterial and antiviral cleaning products, so whilst no longer wearable, they're still... admirable. Not to mention clean AF!)

Lonely Brown Shoes (Prints)
Print type: C-Type
Paper type: Fuji Matt
This print comes unmounted and unframed to allow you to display as you wish.
Shoe size: Unknown
Original shoe price: £unknown
I found these shoes abandoned on my way into Central London.
There is a subway close to my house and it always gives me the creeps to use it.
As I entered, I came across this pair of brown shoes, just left there. They looked in a used but useable condition. What was their story? Who owned them? Why did they just leave them there? I would love to know the story.
I thought about taking them home but where would I store them for the day? And what if the owner came back for them?
I decided that if they were still there when I got back, then maybe I would take a closer look.
Needless to say, they were gone when I returned. Did their owner retrieve them? Did someone else fancy themselves a pair of men's brown shoes? Alas, we shall never know!
However, there are a limited number of prints available if you'd like to have your very own shoe mystery to hang on your walls!
